Synopsis

Things have changed for seventeen-year-old Zoe ever since the dramatic events that brought her together with the mysterious X. In order to save Zoe and her family, X did the unthinkable – he traded their freedom in exchange for his captivity in the Lowlands forever.

But being back in the Lowlands has its advantages. It gives X the chance to discover his past, which could be the key to breaking the Lords’ hold on him forever. Little does X know that Zoe has her own plan to reunite with him . . . one that risks her life and brings her perilously close to losing all that she and X are fighting for.

My Review

I think that this is a great conclusion to this series. It gave me everything that I was hoping for as a reader but delivered it in a way that was still unexpected. This book really made me think past the last page about how the characters lives would play out.

*MILD SPOILER*

I feel that Zoe and are X are young people who are in love, but I don’t think that they are soul mates who will or should stay together forever. I get where Zoe’s mum is coming from wanting to put some distance between them. X has never been “human” before and he need to learn what that means (along with how to read and write etc) and how he can find his place in the world. I think that Zoe and X will always be tied together through their bond but long term I don’t see it. Maybe I am old and practical, maybe I am just a cynic, maybe I am right. We will never know!

I keen to hear your thoughts if you have read it. Do you think Zoe and X will make it? Or do you think they should experience more of the world first?

Overall Rating:  4/5 teacups
