My Review

Please note that this review will contain spoilers. I do normally try to keep them spoiler free but there are a few details of this book that I wanted to discuss in depth.

There were aspects of this book that I really liked but there were also some parts which seemed too similar to other books in this genre.

So, let’s kick off with what I really liked- Serina in the womens prison. I thought this storyline was brilliant. It was brutal and so unjust that it just made me mad reading it, but in a good way. I feel that Serina needed to spend time in the prison to really learn what Nomi had been trying to explain to her. She didn’t want to hear about womens rights until she really felt that hers had been stripped away.

With Nomi I felt that for such a smart person she really was gullible. This is where the book fell short for me. The whole lead female should be vying for the attention to bad heir to the throne but ends up falling for the good younger brother. But wait, the bad one is actually good and the good one is bad. It just screamed Red Queen to me. I mean really screamed it.

Overall I liked the story but I really hope that the next book seems more distinct.

Overall Rating:   3.5/5 teacups
