Ever since last year’s homecoming dance, best-friends-turned-worst-enemies Zorie and Lennon have made an art of avoiding each other. It doesn’t hurt that their families are the modern-day version of the Montagues and Capulets. But when a group camping trip goes south, Zorie and Lennon find themselves stranded in the wilderness. Alone. Together.
Zorie and Lennon have no choice but to try to make their way to safety. But as the two travel deeper into the rugged Californian countryside, secrets and hidden feelings surface. Soon it’s not simply a matter of enduring each other’s company, but taming their growing feelings for each other.
What did I like about this book?? Everything. I literally mean everything. Aesthetically, the cover is beautiful and it has the cutest little maps ever in it. Content wise, there is a great quirky female lead (Zorie) and loads of secrets to uncover about her friends, family and her sort of ex Lennon.
Zorie is smart and a massive overthinker! She just so happens to be perfectly balanced by the amazing Lennon. Lennon is a wonderfully written character and I really want to go for dinner at his house to meet his cool mums too. I am OK with not visiting their sex shop though 😂.
Honestly you just know the book will be good when it has two teenagers stranded in the woods alone. I didn’t really need to read past this part of the synopsis to know I wanted to read this book. It is incredibly adorable and I think contemporary YA readers will love it.
