The Bone Season

The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney works in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man names Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.

But outside the repressive boundaries of Scion, a powerful, otherworldly race waits in the shadows. The season has come and Paige’s life is about to change forever.

Synopsis- The Bone Season

My Review

At last I have found a book in recent years that is built around a unique premise- clairvoyance. This book is seriously interesting. The plot is great and the complexity of the world that Shannon has painted with all the different types of clairvoyance is phenomenal.

There are times reading this book where I found things to be a bit confusing with locations and all the different types of clairvoyance. The author is all over this though with a map and tree diagrams in the front of the book, along with a glossary of terms in the back. Happy claps to that 🤗.

Well, well, well. Hello Paige Mahoney you may be one of my favourite bad-ass female leads to date. She is tough, yet moral, intriguing but grounded, has an amazing gift but is so grounded. I really felt drawn to how strong her character was and it was refreshing.

I liked Wardens character, but I did feel parts of his personality were a bit cliché. Overall though his inclusion gave a different dimension to the story, and it was a good one at that.

Overall Rating: cupcupcup 3/5 teacups
