The Pirriwee Public school trivia night is normally a cut throat affair as parents battle it out. But this year it ends in chaos with one parent dead. Was it a tragic accident or murder?
This is Liane Moriarty at her best. Big Little Lies is simply captivating from cover to cover. I felt so invested in each character and their lives. The format was very clever which is no surprise coming from this author.
Madeline, Celeste and Jane are equally wonderful main characters and the author has done a wonderful job at giving them each their own defined personalities. Madeline’s out going nature, Celeste’s quite battle and Jane’s inner struggles, all blend perfectly together despite being very different.
This book isn’t simply a good read. It touches on some tough issues and demonstrates perfectly that the world isn’t black and white. There are many shades of grey.
I had an idea of which character would die but couldn’t have guessed the circumstances around the death in a million years and I love that I couldn’t. One of the other twists I clued onto but it no way at all detracted from the book.
I can’t wait to watch the mini series. It has good ratings, I just hope the stellar cast do the characters justice.
